2 lbs stew meat/or cubed roast

1 ½ tsp. garlic salt

1 tsp. black pepper

½ cup flour

5 cups water

2 Tbsp. Olive oil

large sauce pan

4 trimmed Green Onions

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 tablespoon dried parsley

1 cup brown gravy mix (optional)

In a large bowl add flour, garlic salt, pepper, blend well, add meat and coat thoroughly.

Heat olive oil in large pan add coated meat and flour mixture, as well as green onions, sear meat until golden on edges.  Add 5 cups water heat to boiling and turn heat to medium, continue to boil for 1 hour, stirring occasionally most of the water should be cooked away. After one hour add mushrooms and parsley and five more cups of water, return to boiling for one more hour. If you prefer to make your own gravy just add your thickening agent (I.e. cornstarch, gravy thickener) here. I prefer to add some prepackaged brown gravy for 35 cents from Walmart. Or you may use the liquid brown gravy in a jar, just pour it in. If you choose to use the powdered you should mix with 1 cup broth from pan  before adding to prevent clumping. It just gives the sauce a thicker darker look and texture. Let simmer another 15-20 minutes while you prepare the rice. Mix rice as directed on package.

When done just pour over rice .

Prep time 5 min.  Cook time 2hours 20 min.  Serves four.
